Dear artist, You’ve done enough this year.
The end of the year can feel hectic. Like we’re running toward a finish line, only to be rewarded with a “fresh start” of new goals we need to set and achieve.
And as high-achievers, we find both inspiration and motivation through the thought of “finishing out the year strong” and “running toward the new year.”
But it can also add pressure and rush the process, neglecting to reflect and reward ourselves for the ways we’ve persevered, the ways we’ve shown strength, and the ways we’ve grown.
Positive reflection is an IMPORTANT part of our life cycle, it highlights the past evidence that we are capable of doing hard things and reminds us of all that DID go well this year. This helps us combat our negativity bias and tendency to only see where we fell short or where we struggled.
But let this serve as an important reminder that although not all wins include external rewards and not all years end in visible victory, you have SO MUCH to be proud of and you deserve to rest and celebrate.
So for all the auditions you showed up to, the self-tapes you submitted, the moments you created, the times you were inspired, the shows that moved you, the friendships you nurtured, the risks you took, the investment you made in yourself…
Cheers and congratulations. Release the pressure and enjoy this month. You’ve done enough.
